The Science curriculum provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. At Key Stage 1 the children focus upon biology and chemistry, and biology, chemistry and physics at Key Stage 2.
Each term the children will study one or two units, building upon their knowledge, developing conceptual understanding and the skills to work scientifically. Science Bug is the vehicle used to deliver the curriculum alongside teacher experience, visiting scientists and relevant trips.
The table below illustrates how the specific disciplines are broken down. This is followed by a unit overview for each year group, identifying where both knowledge and working scientifically are taught and finally planning for mixed age groups.
