Barn Owls - Year 3/4 2018-2019
Autumn Term 2018 - Ancient Greece
Welcome back, I hope you have had a wonderful summer. Meanwhile, lots of things have been happening behind the scenes at school to ensure that another fantastic year of learning, excitement and new experiences await the children.
Our history centered topic for this half term will focus on the Ancient Greeks. However, we will start the term by looking at 'twisted' fairy tales in English as part of a whole school writing project. Look out for the results of this in our entrance hall as the term progresses. Barn Owls class will be looking at 'The Wolf's Story' by Toby Forward. A rather different perspective on the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood. From this, children will be writing a monologue/recount of the story from the Wolf's point of view. The children will then move on to writing in a number of genres to demonstrate their historical knowledge. It is anticipated that the children will spend both half terms studying Ancient Greece in history. However, the focus in the second half term will be significantly different. To keep up to date with what is happening in class, make sure you regularly check our school Twitter feed.
I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming meet the teacher evening on Tuesday 11th September. It is vitally important that this session is attended as homework, use of reading diaries, curriculum and school routines will be detailed. Should you have any other queries please feel free to email me using the address at the top of the page or speak to me in person at the end of the school day.
Here's to another amazing year at Cuddington Primary School.
