Acting Deputy Head, Key Stage 2 and Mathematics Leader, and Barn Owls class teacher. I am also a Mathematics SLE for Ignite TSA. I am a keen endurance runner and have represented Cheshire at senior level. I am currently coming to the end of studying a Masters in Educational Leadership.

 

Summer Term Curriculum Learning 2019 - Mountain Gorillas

Welcome back, I hope you had a wonderful Spring break.

This term, the children's learning will be through the theme of mountain gorillas. Here are some of the things Barn Owls will be learning about:

  • The physical features of Rwanda and how maps communicate this.

  • How to read contour and relief lines, measure distances, map symbols and compass directions. 

  • The key geographical features of Rwanda, including national parks.

  • Investigating the climate of Rwanda and comparing it to the UK.

  • Writing a persuasive piece of writing based on 'Ivan the Shopping Mall Gorilla'.

  • Narrative wring based on 'Gorilla' by Anthony Browne.

  • Classifying and grouping living things.
