Robins and Chaffinches - Reception 2018-2019
We hope you have had a great Christmas break.
This term our topic will be around animals. Our first book is Mr Gumpy’s Outing by John Burningham. The children will learn the story through talk for writing actions and eventually write their own ideas for the book. We will learn about where different animals live and what they eat, giving the children opportunities to look at similarities and differences between animals. To enhance our animal topic, we will be taking a trip to Chester Zoo with year 1!
Please don't hesitate to contact me via email if you have any questions.
In Reception we have daily phonics sessions. Phonics teaches children letter sounds which then enables them to blend and segment sounds together to help them learn to read and write. We have learnt the sounds in Phase 2 last term and this term will start to learn Phase 3. Please see the sounds below.
We run a Stay and Challenge session every Friday morning. This is an opportunity for parents to come in to the classroom and work with their child on a specific challenge set by the teacher.
We use Tapestry to record what the children are learning in school. You will also be able to upload photos and videos to Tapesty at home. We love to read all about the exciting things that have happened at home and all the WOW moments you notice. This really helps us to assess your child's progress and plan for their future learning. Look out for an email to sign up!
Here's to an amazing first year at Cuddington,
