Welcome back to our final term!

We hope that you have had a good break and that everyone is ready for the exciting term ahead. We have chosen a text by one of our favourite authors, Benji Davies. The story, Grandad's Island, is a subtle adventure, with a twist. Our cross curricular links in Science focuses upon plants, including the unusual and exotic. We shall also be come gardeners, preparing the vegetable beds and planting a range of vegetables. A new experience for Year 2 is the weekly swimming lesson every Friday morning. Swimming is a useful life skill and essential if you happen to live on Grandad's Island!

Please continue to read with your child at every possible opportunity. Remember to ask them what and why questions to help develop comprehension skills. This is a very important term and we respectfully ask that you avoid taking your child out of school for a day and wherever possible avoid making appointments during the mornings and early afternoons.

To keep up to date with what is happening in class on a weekly basis, make sure you regularly check our school Twitter feed and look out for new blogs.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

We would just like to start by saying a huge thank you to all the children for such an incredible residential. Hopefully they have all recovered by now and are ready for a busy half term. For the next five weeks our theme will be Journeys. As always our leaning will be cross curricular, based around the text is My name is not Refugee by Kate Milner. Geography, travel  and an old favourite, Paddington Bear will add a touch of colour to Skylark's classroom.

Parent evenings this term are Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th March. There will also be a Key stage 1 SATs meeting for Year 2 parents. A date will be confirmed as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please don not hesitate to contact us.

Happy New Year and welcome back to what promises to be a busy and exciting term. Curriculum learning this half term will be based upon the theme of Wonderland. The text, Alice in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll is the inspiration for our studies in Art, Design Technology, Dance, and Science. Not only will we enjoy reading this wonderful classic in our English lessons, but will also be exploring the use of language and different genres of writing.

Everyone is very excited about our residential visit to Tattenhall on 11th February where  we  shall continue to explore the theme of Wonderland through Art, Design Technology and Dance. More information about the residential, including suggestions as to what to take, will be emailed to you in a few weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hestiate to contact us.

We hope that you had a pleasant and restful half term.

Autumn is always as busy time and our studies begin with Guy Fawkes, the Gun Powder plot and bonfire celebrations. As part of the celebrations, Skylarks plan to dig up the vegetables we grew last year and make our very own leek and potato soup! Our main historical theme focuses on  'We Shall Remember them', linked to the text 'Where the poppies now grow'. The children have already shown great interest in World War 1 and the stories that accompany it. If you have any information on great, great grandparents and the role that they played in the war, we would love to hear about them.

Christmas will soon be upon us, and the text this year is  'The Three Wise Women', a beautiful tale and the perfect stimulus for our Christmas production. During the seven weeks, we shall  cover a range of different writing genres, including instructions, information writing, poetry and narrative.
