Tawny Owls - Year 4 2018-2019
Welcome back to a brand new term! I hope you all had a restful summer and you are ready and raring to go for this new term. Autumn will be full of exciting and important learning opportunities and experiences which I am looking forward to sharing with Tawny Owls.
This term our main overview topic will be the Ancient Greeks. We will be looking at life in Ancient Greece and how their culture was formed and how it differs from ours today. Within our first half term we will be taking part in an exciting school wide project of 'twisted tales'. We will be looking at an alternative telling of Snow White through Fiona French's 'Snow White in New York', retelling this classic fairytale with a rather unusual setting and characters. We will also be looking at a set of miniature tales: 'Bambert's book of missing stories'. This will enable us to write in a variety of genres whilst using many different techniques and vocabulary.
I am also very excited about Music this term as we will have the amazing opportunity to learn a brand new instrument for the whole of the Autumn term. This will link perfectly to our science topic of sound, looking at how sound is made!
Make sure you keep an eye out on the school Twitter feed for updates on Tawny Owls' learning.
I look forward to seeing you on the 11th September on 'Meet the teacher' evening. It is important to attend as I will be going through expectations for the year including homework and reading diaries plus more detail on curriculum and school routines. If you have any further queries, don't hesitate to contact me on the email address at the top of the page.
I am looking forward to a positive and productive year!
