Tawny Owls - Year 4 2018-2019

Miss Radcliffe

Spring Term

Welcome back to a brand new term! I hope you all had a restful Christmas and you are ready and raring to go for this new term! Spring will be full of exciting and important learning opportunities and experiences which I am looking forward to sharing with Tawny Owls.

This term our main overview topic will be the Ancient Egyptians. We will be looking at life in Ancient Egypt and how their culture was formed and how it differs from ours today.  To start us off in English this term, we will be looking at 'portal stories' and seeing what's through the wardrobe with 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe'. We will be looking specifically at character descriptions and continuing to imporve vocabulary. For our non-fiction, we will be doing a non-chronological report all about life in Ancient Egypt. We will be reading lots of different texts this term to inspire us to write in a variety of genres whilst using many different techniques.

In Maths this term, we will be focussing on multiplication and division therefore make sure that you keep on practising TTRockstars!

Homework and school expectations were detailed in September at the 'Meet the teacher' evening but a reminder that homework is set on a Friday and is due on a Wednesday. All logins needed are in reading diaries and homework books.

Make sure you keep an eye out on the school Twitter feed for updates on Tawny Owls' learning.

I am looking forward to a positive and productive term!
