Bike Track Grand Opening
Date: 18th Jul 2019 @ 10:33am
On Friday 12th July we held an afternoon dedicated to cycling for our youngest children. The afternoon included the official opening of our bike track built by Mr Bryan. This year the children in Reception and Year One have been learning how to ride through the HSBC Ready, Set, Ride programme. The children have then enjoyed using these skills to navigate over, on and through the bike track!
We were privileged to have Charlotte Connolly and Graham Trench from British Cycling attend along with Chris Story our Schools Sport Co-ordinator. Louise Gray, YST Development Manager for Ready Set Ride was also able to come and support the event.
At Cuddington we know the importance of teaching children how to ride a bike as it can improve children’s balance, coordination, strength and support their learning in the classroom by helping with concentration and motor skills.
It was a brilliant afternoon supported by many parents. The children were able to have a go at different cycling activities and use the bike track.
The current children in Reception will continue to use the bikes next year and our new Reception class will begin their Ready, Set, Ride journey in September.
Watch this space for new developments on the track and see how we further develop cycling at Cuddington.
