Blackbirds Residential to Tattenhall!

Date: 19th Feb 2019 @ 1:03pm

On the morning of Tuesday 12th February the children in Blackbirds were just about to start their exciting adventure to Tattenhall for their first ever residential! We were all ready for the coach to arrive with our heavy bags packed.

Once we arrived the kind Tattenhall staff showed us around and the children unpacked their bags. We then started to relax by eating our packed lunches and colouring in.

After our lunch we explored the adventure playground and then it was time to meet our dance teacher Rachel.

We all loved how close the cows were to us!

Playing games all together was special!

Meeting Rachel for the first time was fun as she made us all do silly warm-up games.

Once we had warmed up our bodies it was time to go into the dance studio and start to devise our Alice dance.

After our wonderful dance workshop we were all ready for our tea! Pizza, wedges and salad or sausages, mash and gravy. We all got to have seconds...even thirds if we wanted!

Once our tummies were full it was time for a relaxing sketching activity before pjs and a film.

The next morning everybody woke up happy after a good sleep! We had to strip our beds, pack our bags and be ready for breakfast all before 8am! Breakfast was delicious with lots of options to choose from.

Our next task was to start our art work. The children have been learning all about positive and negative space in our art lessons, leading up to the residential. This linked to the playing cards in Alice and Wonderland. We also looked at self portaits and where features are positioned on the face. The children had already experimented in their sketch pads so now it was time to put their skills into action. Our end goal was for each child to make a 'Card Person'.

The children made a really good start and completed their artwork once we were back at school.

Please come into school and see what the children produced with our new display outside our classroom!

After we had packed up it was time to return back to school. We were all feeling a bit sad to be leaving Tattenhall but we couldn't wait to see our loved ones.

We had such a wonderful time and made lots of special memories together! Thank you my lovely Blackbird children!

Take a look at our Alice dance. The first video was in rehearsal and the second is our wonderful performance!!
