Toucans - Year 6 2018-2019

Miss Norris

Spring Term 2

Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your half term break and are ready for another fun packed half term. This half term, we'll be continuing with the theme 'Awe-Inspiring America.' In English, we'll still be using the text King Kong by Anthony Browne to write a balanced argument about whether Kong should have been brought to New York. We'll also spend some time finding out about gorillas in order to help us write a non-chronological report about this  powerful and striking animal.

In our geography lessons, we'll be finding out about the continent of North America and in particular, the state of New York. We'll be exploring the 5 boroughs, looking at the Hudson river and finding out about the human and physical features which make up the most populous city in the United States.

Toucans will also be continuing to prepare for the SATs in May. Homework will be set from the SATs question books, and we will be going through the answers and any issues in class so I do ask that the work is completed and handed in on time.

Keep checking Twitter to keep up to date with what we are covering in class.

Here's to another exciting half term!
