Welcome to Toucans

Summer 1

Welcome to Toucans and our class page. 

I hope you have had a lovely and restful Easter break and I am sure that, like me, you are looking forwards to some sunshine ahead over the next few months. 

Here is a brief overview of the areas of learning that we will be focusing on during this next this half term.

As always, please ensure that your child brings in the correct P.E. kit and trainers every Monday morning and that it stays in school for the week. Until the weather improves, it is advisable that children continue to bring warm tracksuit joggers and a zip-up hoodie or jumper (different to their uniform jumper). Please make sure that your child has the correct school P.E. kit and that it is labelled clearly, so lost items can be returned to their rightful owner. Please also provide a water bottle and waterproof coat for your child every day as we never know what the weather might do!

Once the sun appears, please remember a sun hat for protection and field shoes to ensure that they are able play on and enjoy the field, even if the grass is a little damp.  

Toucans will continue to be taught by Mrs Austin on a Friday morning. 

Homework will continue to use the revision guides this half term, in the lead up to SATs.  I will continue to message parents each Friday so that you are clear on what the expectations are for that week and with any additional infromation.  Please support your child with completing their homework, buidling good habits, as this both supports their learning and prepares them for what is to come at high school. 

As we always encourage, daily reading is essential for all children and in Upper KS2 and we advise that you read for 15-20 minutes per day with your child, no matter their proficiency level. Whilst listening to your child, try to ask them questions about events that have happened so far, characters thoughts and motives and to make accurate predictions and inferences based on the text as well as the meanings of words within it.
