Toucans - Year 6 2018-2019
Spring Term 1
Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas break and are ready for another fun packed term. This term, we'll be focusing on the theme 'Awe-inspiring America.' In English, we'll be looking at how Kong, a giant gorilla, wreaks havoc on the streets of New York in Anthony Browne's King Kong. We'll be covering a range of genres, including narrative writing, information writing and balanced arguments. We'll also be looking at perspective drawings of New York skyscrapers in art.
In our geography lessons, we'll be finding out about the continent of North America and all its amazing countries, cities and landscapes. We'll be exploring the various geographical features of different areas of North America and comparing them with our own locality.
Toucans will also be continuing to prepare for the SATs in May. I will be holding a SATs information meeting for parents at the end of January, where we will discuss how you can support your child at home, look at past papers and there will be an opportunity to purchase revision guides. I look forward to seeing you there.
Keep checking Twitter to keep up to date with what we are covering in class.
