Toucans - Year 6 2019 - 2020
Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely Summer break and are ready for a fun packed year in Year 6. There is lots to look forward to this year, starting with our trip to Min y Don in October!
This term we will be focusing on the theme of 'War and Conflict.' In our English lessons we will be using the text 'Rose Blanche' by Roberto Innocenti to support us in writing a diary and a bravery award speech. In history we will be looking at World War 2 and in particular the Battle of Britain, as we investigate the question, "Why was the Battle of Britain a significant turning point in WW2?"
Our Art and DT lessons will also link to this theme as we explore the work of Henry Moore and create Blitz drawings in his style.
Spelling and Maths homework will be set on Friday and due in the following Wednesday. There will be one electronic piece of work and one paper piece of work set each week. Please ensure that homework is completed on time.
I look forward to seeing you at the 'meet the teacher' evening on Wednesday 4th September (3:30pm-4:00pm), where I will be going through information such as homework, PE kit expectations, the curriculum and school routines.
Keep checking Twitter to keep up to date with what we are covering in class.
Here's to an exciting half term!
